COVID-19 UPDATE, April 14, 2020

Dear Friends,

Based upon recent updates to restrictions by the State of Connecticut to help mitigate the spread of the Covid-19 virus, the Museum will remain closed to the public through May 30. The situation will be monitored to determine the safest possible time to reopen. State restrictions must first be lifted.
As of now, the construction of the new Education Center continues on schedule with a completion date in late July. The workers are following strict safety protocols for projects of this kind. Though our wedding and barn rentals are lower than in previous years, we are fortunate to have thirty-five weddings scheduled and thank those who had reservations in May for their flexibility in rescheduling later this year.

The loss of income from admissions, shop, and rentals is putting a strain on the operating budget, but we will continue to be working behind the scenes to maintain the property and its security. Planning also continues for when we reopen and for the completion of our exciting new Education and Visitor Center. We are retaining all staff at the present time and look forward to their return to a normal work schedule.

We encourage you to follow us on Facebook and Instagram, where we will continue to post updates. We will also be communicating by e-mail with fascinating articles and beautiful photos of the Museum, the garden, and of the construction of the new building as it progresses.

We look forward to when our Museum will reopen again to welcome visitors. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with questions in the meantime.

Sincerely,
Charles Lyle
Executive Director
